Presentation of the company

The company Dans6t was created in 2001 and is directed by the choreographer Bouziane Bouteldja since 2005. The work of the company is based around:

  • Workshops on artistic practices and organising dance-forums, placing dance at the service of cultural and social actions.
  • Actions in the framework of city policies (dependent on the Ministry of the Interior and the the Ministry of Culture).
  • Dance lessons.
  • Choreographic creations by Bouziane Bouteldja who, through his engagement regarding the questions of society, defines this practice as a ‘citizen’s dance’. The cultural action projects which have been put into place these last few years are centred on questions of otherness, identity, citizenship and, in a more global sense, the values of the Republic. These different choreographic pieces reach out with themes such as emancipation, the relationship towards others, the meaning of life, prejudice, the sentiment of rejection, religion, death and all the rituals involved…

He created « ALTÉRITÉ » (2012), winner of the « [Re]connaissances » prize. Later on, he composes a solo called « RÉVERSIBLE » (2015) as well as the pieces « FAUX SEMBLANTS » (2016) and « FACE À TERRE » (2018). In 2019, he conceives « ALTÉRITÉ-MAROC », an adaptation of the work presented in 2012, which takes into account the different identities from one side of the Mediterranean to the other.

Show presentation

This new piece by Bouziane Bouteldja has built itself following an exchange with Ana Pi and Bastien Picot.

Ana Pi, who comes from Brazil, reflects on the status of a black body on stage and has recently realised a solo called « NoirBLUE ».

Bastien Picot, who originates from Reunion Island, a melting pot that gave birth to this virtuoso singer, polymorphic, solar, both masculine and feminine, who is in the habit of engaging his body on stage and with dance.

« FACE À TERRE » follows the reflections of Bouziane and his vision of the world and meaning of life. Notably, this piece continues the numerous questions that abounded during the creation and the performance of the solo « RÉVERSIBLE », in which Bouziane presented an emancipation procedure and learning what is freedom. We will observe that with « FACE À TERRE », he approaches the joint problematic that is even more fundamental : the relationship to death – an axis of reflection whose final outcome is none other than an ode to life.

Other than a recourse to past productions, the project can emerge thanks to the different research laboratories conducted in France and abroad – notably, in Mexico and Brazil. These laboratories allowed us to observe funeral rites and experiment with their relationship to dance as well as music ; an approach that reveals several significances, depending on each one’s beliefs.
