Presentation of the company

Agrupación Señor Serrano is a theatre company from Barcelona whose original creations address the different contradictory aspects of the contemporary human condition. The performances of Señor Serrano are a mixture of live video, models, text, performance, sound and objects. The productions of the company are played and toured internationally.

Currently, the core of the Señor Serrano troupe is made up of Àlex Serrano (President of the Republic), Pu Palacios (Prime minister) and Barbara Bloin (Chief of Cabinet). Moreover, on every production, the company relies on the collaboration of a multidisciplinary freelance creative team. Over the years, numerous creators have participated in various projects of the company, leaving a vivid imprint, notably Diego Anido, Ferran Dordal, Jordi Soler, Alberto Barberá, Roger Costa Vendrell, Nuria Manzano, Alexandra Laudo, Jofre Carabén, Claudia Solano Watson, Martí Sánchez-Fibla, Vicenç Viaplana, Gabriel Parés, Maria de la Cámara, Isabel Franco, Ester Forment, Susana Gómez and Sebastián Garc.

The rest is just filth and fury.

Show presentation

« Birdie » is a multimedia performance based on live video, objects, the film « The Birds » by Hitchcock revisited, but also models, 2000 miniature animals, wars, human slave dealers, massive immigration and three artist performers controlling the gamepads of this brooding universe with evident humour, a sense of criticism and an engagement towards human beings.

Two phantasmagorias. On one hand, wars, great droughts, massive deforestation, polluted coastlines, exploited workforce, political instability, bad healthcare, persecutions, forced deportations, abusive exploitation of natural resources, exhausted water supplies, food shortages… On the other hand, well stocked supermarkets, road safety, family stability, efficient health services, liberties, good salaries, respect for human rights, well-being, recycling, renewable energy, prosperity, social mobility…

Between these two phantasmagorias, there is a flock of birds. Thousands of birds in constant migration, making incredible shapes in the sky. Movement. Relentless movement. Birds. And up above, planets, asteroids, primary matter, galaxies, blood, cells, weapons, atoms, electrons, publicity, quarks, ideology, fear, waste and hope. Life. Nothing in the cosmos is immobile. Calm does not exist, it is a pipe dream. The only thing there is, is movement. If it is impossible to stop an electron, what is the use of erecting barriers against a flock of birds ?
